Obituary

Albert  L. Hoxie, Jr. passed away on Monday, April 12, 2021.  He was 90.  Born in Vicksburg, he was the son of Albert Lehan Hoxie, Sr. and Virginia Logue Hoxie.  He graduated from Theodore High School in Theodore, AL. and was a resident of Vicksburg since 1952.  Albert retired in 1985 with the U.S. Government, Corps of Engineers, in the Soil Division.

He was retired as a Master Sergeant in the MS. National Guard in 1980 and was also a member of the VFW, DAV, MS National Guard NCO Association, and Paxton Masonic Lodge #559.  Albert was  also an avid golfer.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Doris Johns Hoxie; his sisters, Virginia "Snooks" Mobley; Dorothy Dudley.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Ainsworth-Lance-Hoxie; daughters, Sharon H. Cothran, Sharlene H. Jones, Jeanie H. Nicolson, Candace Lance Whittington, Kristy Lance; sons, William Ellis and Mike Lance; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a  brother, Rip Hoxie; sisters, Jean Hoxie Ponder and  Linda Hoxie  Powell and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Friday, April 16 at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home, 5000 Indiana Avenue.  Interment will follow at Noon at GreenLawn Gardens Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Andrew C. Nicolson, David Hosemann, Ken Harper, Daniel Dudley, Tommy Dudley and Rip Hoxie, Jr.
