Alfred Raymond Sanderson, a lifelong resident of Redwood, MS , passed away on Sunday, Feb. 17, 2019 at his home. He was 86. Ray was the son of the late Alfred R. and Nancy Sanderson. He was a graduate of Redwood High School and was a veteran of the United States Air Force. Ray was also a lifelong member of Redwood United Methodist Church. Ray was an employee of the Vicksburg Police Department and he retired from International Paper Company. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Viola Brooks Sanderson; one son, John Darin Sanderson; two grandsons, John Douglas Sanderson and Ryan Lee; one granddaughter, Brooke Sanderson; two sisters, Marge Saxon and Doris Brock; one brother, H.B. Sanderson. Ray is survived by one son, Rusty Sanderson; three daughters, Nancy Childers (Darrell), Rae Flanagan (Robert), Dottie Lee (Johnny); 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 21 at Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home with Bubba Hanks officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 9 a.m. until the hour of service. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Matthew Sanderson, Nigel Childers, Keegan Childers, Adam Lee, Christopher Flanagan, Seren Childers, Christopher Lee and Robert Ogden. Honorary pallbearers will be Frank Norwood, Bill Moore, Phares Griffin, Bob Hollowell, Doug Jernigan, Kevin Sanderson and Don McVan, Jr.
