Barbara Whitten Browning died Tuesday, April 12, 2023, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, MS.  She was 78.  She was born in Vicksburg, MS and had lived most of her life in Valley Park, MS.  She graduated from Rolling Fork High School in 1962.  She was a retired bookkeeper for Valley Park Elevator.  She was a member of Valley Park Baptist Church.  She enjoyed most of all spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Norman Browning, and her parents, James and Mildred Sheppard Whitten.

She is survived by two daughters, Brenda Browning of Valley Park and Donna Browning Grady (Louis) of Tallulah, LA; four grandchildren, Rebecca Chick Pace (Beau) of Madison, MS, Justin Welch of Valley Park, MS, Robert Keith Grady of Monroe, LA and Wade Grady (Jessica) of Trussville, AL; three great-grandchildren, Samuel, Miriam and Ethan Pace; two brothers, Billy Whitten (Ethel) and Larry Whitten (Joanne), and one sister, Deborah Robin (Jerry) all of Valley Park, MS; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 3 P.M. on Friday, April 14, 2023, at Valley Park Baptist Church with Rev. Ronald Purser officiating.  Graveside service to follow with Rev. Adrian Fairchild officiating.  Visitation will be immediately before services from 1 - 3 P.M. at Valley Park Baptist Church.

Pallbearers will be Hugh D. Holloway, Jr., James W. Whitten, III, Jason M. Cannon, Charles G. Holloway, Bradley D. Whitten, Randall S. Whitten and Lamar S. Evans.  Honorary pallbearer will be David Wansley.
