August 16, 1935 – August 29, 2021
Betty Jean Hinson Carroll, 86 of Vicksburg, passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, August 29 th surrounded by her family. Mrs. Hinson was born on August 16, 1935 in Warren County to Clarence and Alice Graham. She was married to Robert William (Jr.) Hinson and later married to Jimmy Carroll, all of Warren County.
Mrs. Hinson had suffered a stroke since July and over the past 5 weeks had been cared for by her daughter, her son-in-law and granddaughter and the compassionate staff at Mississippi Home Care and Baptist Hospice.
Mrs. Hinson was a member of Elevate Church in Vicksburg and she retired from Kroger's and the Vicksburg/Warren Schools.
Mrs. Hinson was preceded in death by her first and second husbands, Jr Hinson and Jimmy Carroll, her parents, Clarence and Alice Graham, a sister, Elizabeth (Libby) Tanner, brother, Jerry Graham and a son, Jimmy Hinson.
She is survived by a sister, Shirley Hammett of Jackson, son, Kenneth Wayne Hinson, daughter, Linda Garrard (Wayne), daughter, Vickie Tankesly all of Vicksburg and son, Randall James (Randy) Hinson (Nancy) of South Carolina. Grandchildren, Shane Garrard (Brittany), Heather Tapp (Hewitt), Kayla Richards (Eric), Chris Tankesly (Kayla), Hannah Hinson, Kenny Ulmer, Ashley Tankesly, David Tankesly (Samantha), Jamie Hinson, Sean Hinson and Brady Hinson. Great grandchildren, Mia Garrard, Chase McNeill, Alyssia Kyzar, Hayden McNeill, Cullen Tankesly, Elaina Garrard, Heidi Richards, Bella Tankesly, Gabbi Garrard, and Luke Richards.
Services will be held at 11 AM Friday, September 3, 2021 at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home, 5000 Indiana Avenue in Vicksburg. Visitation will be from 10 AM until the hour of service. Interment will follow in Vicksburg City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tommy Cousin, Eric Proctor, Ryan McNeill, David Gunter, Earl Riggs and Randall McCool. Honorary pallbearers will be Peggy Andrews, Heather Blok, Jerry Bailey, Dr. Sam Pierce, Morgan Caulfield, Johanna Kimberl, Lynn Riggs, Blanche Jenkins, Sandy Raines, Audrey Jones, Loree Billings, Mallary Mardis, Sondra Leach, Michelle Spray, Kelli Manor, Lauren Burdine and Ann Carol Tirey.
