Obituary

Buford B. Evans Jr. (BB) was born August 9th, 1946 in Leesville LA to his parents Buford B. Evans and Alma Lea Morrison Evans. He is preceded in death by his beloved sister Betty Evans Bowers and dearly loved brother Michael Steven Evans. He is survived by his children Jon Evans, Lachelle Griffin, Lane Lambert and Pat Hitt.

BB loved many and was loved by many.  He met no strangers;  he wouldn't allow it. Very few ever left a meeting with him not knowing how much he loved them and not having a smile on their face.

BB grew up in Vicksburg, MS where he graduated from Vicksburg High School. He then joined the U. S. Air Force.  After serving his country, having attained the rank of sergeant, he attended Hinds Junior College where he graduated in 1972 with an Associate of Science degree, and was also honored by Phi Theta Kappa. His career started at the US Army Corp of Engineers, followed by a few years as a Machinist instructor at Hinds Junior College.  He was  then employed at Buck Sullivan's Inc, from which he retired in 2008.  After retirement he quickly transitioned to a life of service and generosity.  He was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Vicksburg for many years, served on the Board of Directors for the Good Shepherd Center and gave many hours of tech and other assistance to the Salvation Army, all of which he enjoyed.  He happily worked as a special employee for 'The Tomato Place' , building customer relations and helping manage their social media, while repairing or advising on everything under the sun. BB knew it all, ask anyone. If he didn't know or couldn't figure it out, he wouldn't quit till the problem was resolved. BB was a Master Jack-of-All-Trades. He also knew how to explain things to people to get them to understand, his way.

BB was a faithful member of Porter's Chapel Congregational Methodist Church  where he served in many areas for many years.

On July 19th 2024, BB left a world of suffering for an eternity of peace. Buford "BB" Evans has left an indelible mark here on Earth that won't soon fade.
