Charles Burt Darden, Sr. died peacefully at his home in Blanton, MS on October 30, 2023, surrounded by his family.  Born on February 4, 1927, Burt was a devoted member of the Goodman Memorial United Methodist Church.where he served for decades in many capacities.

Burt farmed his family's land his entire life and was also a crop duster for 20 years.  He has been a long time member of MS Farm Bureau, Southern Cotton Ginners Association, and MS Aerial Applicators Association.  He served as a Sharkey County Supervisor for 17 years.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Eunice and Alfred Darden, his wife, Gloria Darden, and his brother, George Darden.  Burt is survived by his son Charlie (Chloe) of Blanton and his daughter Lee Carroll (Wilson) of Vicksburg; grandchildren Logan Johnson, Frances Thames, Gus Carroll, Grace Carroll, and Spencer Carroll.

Services will be held at  Fisher-Riles Funeral Home, located at 5000 Indiana Avenue in Vicksburg on Friday November 3rd, 2023. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. with the service to follow at 11:30 a.m. officiated by Mary Stewart.  The burial will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Bert Clark, Robert Golitz, Karl Holcomb, David Johnson, Logan Johnson, William Moore, Polo Rodriguez, and Blake Ward.  Honorary pallbearers are John Bodie, Spencer Carroll, Clark Carter, Donald Harris, Mike Lamensdorf, Larry Ludwig, George Martin, and Denon Melton.
