Haney
May 19, 1937 – July 19, 2024
Charles Howard Haney passed away on Friday, July 19, 2024 at St. Dominic's Medical Center. He was 87. He was the son of the late Elba Boyette Haney and Willard Curtis Haney.
He was employed with South Central Bell from 1956 until his retirement in 1987. After his retirement with South Central Bell, he worked for Vicksburg Telephone Company where he retired for a second time. In 1997, Charles moved to Eagle Lake where he lived next door to his best friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, W.R. Clearman; brother, Warren Curtis Haney; step-sister, Cherry Hinkel.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys Kitty Haney (Ms Kitty); three sons, Lance Sheldon Haney, Victor Kevin Haney and Steve Jennings; one granddaughter, three great-grandchildren; one sister, Glenda Sims; one adopted great granddaughter; and best friend and partner in crime, Bill Henley. He loved the Henley family.
He loved his garden and was proud of what he produced. He loved fishing, hunting and was a member of Steel Bayou Hunting Club.
He told us, "If the Lord calls, I am ready".
Memorial services will be held at 2 pm on Thursday, July 25 at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home, 5000 Indiana Ave. with the Rev. Bobby Culbertson officiating. Visitation will be from 1 pm until the hour of service.
