Charles Hugh Smith (Charley) passed away on December 30, 2024, at Merit Health River Region of Cardiac Arrest. He was 75 years of age.

"Charley Boy," as his daughter lovingly named him, was born in Vicksburg, MS, on July 3, 1949.

He was the son of Henry James Smith and Ruby Jewel Hensley Smith. He retired after many years of working, starting with respiratory therapy and ending as a teacher assistant. His life was dedicated to being the most loving father to their special, one and only child,
Dayna. He never had a thought without her in it. Dayna adored her "Charley Boy." His love of God and his family were who he was.

He is survived by his beloved wife and best friend of 51 years, Bille Sue Barner Smith, daughter Dayna Michelle Smith, his sister, Catherine Hollowell (Bob) and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings: Bobbie Joe Smith (Carolyn), Richard Smith (Jeanette), Bill Smith, Wayne Smith (Frances), Frank Smith (Gala), and his twin sister, Linda Bennet Hull (James).

Memorial Service will be held on Monday, January 6, 2025, at Fisher Riles Funeral Home, 5000 Indiana Avenue. Visitation will be from 9A.M.-11A.M. with a Memorial Service following, led by Pastor Robert Andrews.

Next to his family, "Charley Boy" loved animals. Memorials can be made to your favorite animal shelter if desired.
