Obituary

Deborah "Debbie" Faye Shiers Kackley was called home by her Lord and Savior on October 29th, 2023 at the age of 66. She left this world peacefully, surrounded by her family. Debbie was born in Vicksburg, MS on April 26th, 1957 to Wydell Allen and Carl Edward Shiers, Sr. She was a lifelong resident of Vicksburg and a member of Vicksburg Gospel Chapel. She attended Warren Central High School. She spent many years playing and coaching softball. When she was 17, she met the love of her life, Jeffery. Over the next 49 years, they built a life together as one.
Over the years, they welcomed their first miracle, a son, named Jeffery "Lynn" Kackley, Jr. Then in August 1984, they were blessed with their second son, Joshua Edward Kackley. She then attended Hinds Community College School of Nursing where she graduated in 1991 with an associate degree for Registered Nursing. A few years later, they received the surprise of a lifetime when, in April 1994, their daughter, Beverly Wydell "Dell" Kackley was born. Debbie spent the next phase of her life loving her family and her job at River Region ER department. Her co-workers became her home away from home family.  She later went on to work as an RN at University of Mississippi Medical Center. While working there, she received the covered Daisy Award for Extraordinary Nurses on October 3rd, 2010. She was beyond honored. After about 25 years of caring for others and their families, Debbie retired and shifted her focus to her precious grandchildren, whom I can honestly say that she loves more than life itself.

Debbie leaves behind her loving husband of 49 years, Jeffery Kackley, Sr., two sons, Lynn Kackley (Crystal) and Josh Kackley (Missy), a daughter Dell Rogé (Taylor), her handsome grandsons, Jacob Kackley, Kenny Kackley, Joshua Kackley, Evan Modlin, Tyler Kackley, Bryan Rogé, and Johnathan Rogé, two beautiful and amazing granddaughters Alexis "Lexie" Foster and Blakely Rogé, her brother Carl Edward Shiers, Jr., her sister Susan Shiers Gentry (Rector), her daughter-in-love Misty Shiers, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who became family.

In addition to her parents, Debbie was preceded in death by her brother William "Bill" Shiers, sister Karen Shiers Powers, granddaughter Anna Grace Kackley, grandson Landon Cole Haynes, and her niece Virginia "Angel" Massey Ross. We know that she was greeted by such a happy and joyous bunch of our family that all she could do was smile and say, "Oh my God! Hey, y'all!" in a way that ONLY Aunt Debbie could do.

Pallbearers will be Jacob Kackley, Kenny Kackley, Joshua Kackley, Evan Modlin, Tyler Kackley, Gene Ross, and Karl Merritt, with Chase Hamilton and David Hamilton on standby.  Honorary pallbearers will be Lexie Foster, Bryan Rogé, Blakely Rogé, Johnathan Rogé, and the entire staff of the ER department and ICU department at River Region.

A special thanks goes to Bridgette Parra of River Region ER department, Shane -the ICU nursing supervisor at River Region, and although I didn't get her name, the sweet, sweet nurse in ICU who worked relentlessly. We thank you all for your compassion and hard work during all of this.
