Obituary

Edna Helen Harthcock died on March 24, 2024 in her home in Clinton, Mississippi after a brief illness.  She was the daughter of Robert Howard Barnes, Sr. and Ivy Louise Lawler Barnes who preceded her in death along with her beloved husband, R.E.;  her sister, Maple Louise Barnes Markham and her brothers, Robert Howard Barnes, Jr. and John Robert Barnes.  She is survived by their daughter, Kim and the families of her nieces and nephews.

Edna Helen was a woman of faith who loved her Lord and Savior and her family.  She will be remembered for her ability to make a home no matter the circumstances or place of that home.  Edna Helen, R.E. and Kim lived in several states throughout the southern United States as well as Saudi Arabia.  Once R.E. retired, they settled in Vicksburg, Mississippi.  Edna Helen enjoyed attending Young at Hearts and going on mission trips with her church family at Highland Baptist Church.  She was a faithful servant who had memorized many books of the Bible which served her well when her family was without a written copy of God's Word during the Saudi years.  Edna Helen was a prayer warrior until her last days spending several hours in daily prayer for the lost and her family.  She will be missed.

A private graveside service was held at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Vicksburg, Mississippi.   Edna Helen requested no flowers, instead she preferred memorials to be made in her name to Gideon's, The Baptist Children's Village or Samaritan's Purse Operation Christmas Child.  Funeral services were handled by Fisher-Riles Funeral Home of Vicksburg, Mississippi.
