Obituary

Edward Waldrop, 83, left his earthly home to enter his heavenly home on December 24, 2020. There he was reunited with parents Vernon and Janie Waldrop, brothers Herb, Harold, and Leslie, and sisters Peggy, Edna, Betty, and Mary.

Ed was born in Brookhaven, Mississippi on September 20, 1937 and resided there until his early twenties. From there Ed moved to Vicksburg, Mississippi and soon made it home with his sweetheart Shirley Johnson. They were married on June 13th, 1965. To celebrate 50 years of marriage Ed and Shirley renewed their weddings vows in June 2015. Ed spent his working years as a finance manager for various car dealerships in Vicksburg and retired in the early 1990s. He was a member of Bovina Baptist Church.

Mr. Waldrop is survived by his wife Shirley and their only daughter, Alisia Ellis of Byram, grandchildren Casey Ellis (Rachel) and Kristen Turnbow (Brian), and great grandchildren Macie and Logan Ellis, and Dylan and Pierce Turnbow. Also survived by brother-in-law Charles Johnson (Linda Stokes) and many nieces and nephews. Ed was a man of few words but had a heart of gold and was an outstanding man of God. Nothing made him happier than spending time with his family together in one place.

Pallbearers are Richard Carroll, Casey Ellis, Tim Edwaters, Jared Gleese, Bubba Rowland, and Brian Turnbow. Honorary pallbearers Jim and Betty Daquilla, James Edwards, Sandy Vickers, and Harold Williamson.

The family would like to send their heartfelt appreciation to the former and present staff of HEA (HMI), Red Tray, and Peggy Dendy. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Robert Cannon of Mission Primary Care, Kindred Home Health, and Kindred Hospice.

Services will be held by Brother Randy Burns of Bovina Baptist Church and former pastor of Trinity Baptist Church, Brother Ron Burch at Noon on Tuesday, December 29 at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home, 5000 Indiana Ave.  Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the hour of service.   Organist will be Cindy Carroll. Slideshow and music provided by Rachel Ellis and Kristen Turnbow. Graveside services will be held at Greenlawn Cemetery immediately following the funeral.
