Elsie Lee Felker, 76, of Vicksburg, left this earthly life and passed through the veil on June 25, 2021. Elsie was born to Harold Elsy and Shirley (Clifton) Coody on August 12, 1944 in Delhi, LA. Elsie is survived by her daughter, Christina Lynn Heath; son, William Allan Felker, daughter-in-law, Damanda "Mandy" Sha Felker; sister-in-law, Ann Whitley Coody of St. Joseph, LA; and brother-in-law, Gene Novotny of Russell, KS. She leaves her love in her grandchildren: Candace Felker Wright, Kynan Alyssa Heath, Mackenzie Rae Milburn, Gracie Elizabeth Felker, Kaleb Leon Brown, Sarah Bradford Felker; five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Elsie's parents preceded her in death, as well as her husband, William "Sonny" Felker; a brother, Talmadge Ray Coody; sister's, Gloria June Coody Clark, Linda Kay Coody Novotny; sister-in-law's, Sadie Felker Miles, Gloria "Billy" Felker Smith, Peggy Felker Dunn, Carmelita Felker Yeager; brother-in-law, Charles "Chuck" Clark; one grandchild, Christa Lee Heath.
Elsie graduated from Epps High School, Class of 1962, where she played on the basketball team. She met her husband of 42 years in high school. She was always committed to her family, friends, community and worked as an electrician for 20 years with Magnolia Mobile Homes before she and her husband decided to invest in a country grocery store, "SONNY'S GROCERY". She and Sonny committed to the business for 21 years, which serviced the Yokena community. Elsie Felker was loved by all.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 30 at Immanuel Baptist Church with the Rev. Billy Brumfield officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the hour of service at the church. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. at Epps Cemetery in Epps, LA. under the direction of Fisher-Riles Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Glenn Kittrell, Glen Allen Kittrell, Chip Porter, David Shows, Hewitt Tapp and Jimmy Bishop. Honorary pallbearers will be Laney Reece and Michael Edwards.
