"Bud" Lokey, Jr.

Ethridge W. "Bud" Lokey, Jr., Major Retired ANG, peacefully passed away at home on Sunday, June 21, 2020, at the age of 69 surrounded by his loving family.
Bud was born on November 29, 1950 to Etheridge W. Lokey, Sr. and Willie Warnie Lokey in Rantoul, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Dorothy Staines of Albany, GA. Bud is survived by his wife, Gwen F. Lokey of Wrightsville, GA; three daughters and sons-in-law, Christi and C. Andrew Hoenig of Marietta, GA, Kelinda and Chris Cobb of Omaha, NE, and Deanna and Kevin Chaples of Denver, CO; four grandchildren, Madison Hoenig, C. Grant Hoenig, Ella Chaples, and Rhiannon Cobb; sister and brother-in-law, Pamela and Bill Smith of Savannah, GA; and his girlfriend Wanda Fontenot of Vicksburg, MS.
Bud was a native of Savannah, GA, and has called many places home from Albany (GA), Lawton (OK), Reidsville (GA), Wiesbaden (Germany), El Paso (TX), to Vicksburg (MS). He was a graduate of Groves High School in Savannah, GA, and Cameron University in Lawton, OK. Bud served for 21 years in the Army National Guard Reserve and concluded his active duty service with the United State Army Field Artillery School. He has been a resident of Vicksburg for the past six years and served as a Contracting Specialist for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers – ERDC. Over the years Bud found ways to actively connect with his community through various organizations. Bud was a member of the Vicksburg Elks Lodge, BPOE 95 having served as Exalted Ruler and Trustee. He was a Mason (Reidsville, Ga) and a member of the Loyal Order of Moose and the BOARD Cub of Vicksburg.
He loved to be outdoors camping, hunting, fishing, boating, and most of all attending to his flowers and garden. Bud enjoyed the company of friends through music, cards, and fellowship. His smiles, smirks, and humor will be missed by all that loved him.
A Memorial and Celebration of Bud's Life will be held at 12 Noon on Thursday, June 25, 2020 at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home, 5000 Indiana Avenue in Vicksburg, MS. Visitation will be from 10 AM until the hour of service. Due to current health concerns for our community, those in attendance shall practice social distancing and are encouraged to wear face coverings. A graveside service will be held privately for immediate family in Savannah, GA, at a future date.
