Frank William Kappler, Sr., was born on October 23, 1942.  He was 78.  Born and raised in Vicksburg, he was married to the late Mrs. Jean Kappler for 54 years.

Mr. Kappler went to be with the love of his life on the morning of April 6, 2021, peacefully in his sleep at CMMC.  He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving from 1960 to 1966.  He was retired from the Vicksburg Police Department after 37 years of service, and became a security officer for ERDC for 12 years, until he  retired completely at the ripe age of 70 years old.  He enjoyed working on things, cutting grass and loved playing with the great grand babies.  He loved being with his family and loved each  of them unconditionally.

He was preceded in death by his wife  of 54 years, Gloria Jean Kappler; father, Frank A. Kappler; mother, Bertha Ellison Jones; and two brothers, Robert L.  Stewart, Sr. and Charles A. Kappler, Sr.  Survivors include his three children, John,  Frank Jr., and Bertha (BJ); eight grandchildren, Tabitha(Andrew), Stephanie (Russell), Rebecca, Stephen Jr., (Tessa),  Sherri, Casey (Kayla), Korey (Hannah) and Mathew; 13 great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Jaxon, Kirsten, Shane, Lane, Ellie, Kyndal, Torstien, Brantley, Brendon, Keaton, Klayton and Kolby, along with nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 10 at 2 p.m. at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home, 5000 Indiana Avenue, with the Rev. Marvin Curtis officiating.  Interment will follow at Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, April 9 and on Saturday from 1 p.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Dan King, Larry Holloway, Clay Griffin, Kenny Williams, Andrew Grantham, Stephen Tate, Jr., Stephen Tate, Sr., Billy Adams and John Kappler.  Honorary pallbearers will be employees of Vicksburg Police Department and Sheriff's Department.
