Jacks
December 24, 1937 – March 23, 2021
Rev. Freddy Gene Jacks was born December 24, 1937 in Vicksburg MS, along with his twin
sister Joan, to Jimmy Lee and Nora Jacks. He passed March 23, 2021 in Hattiesburg, MS at his
son's home. He was preceded in death by his wife Norma Robinson Jacks in 2004.
Gene graduated in 1957 from Culkin Academy in Vicksburg. He was voted Mr. Culkin, Most
Handsome, and Funniest. After graduation he served in the Army until his discharge in 1962.
After call to ministry and ordination here at Woodlawn in August of 1972, under Rev. Carl
Barnes, He then attended Clarke College and Louisiana College. He went on to serve as a Pastor
for many years in churches in Louisiana and Mississippi. Although he served numerous
churches over the years, he always called Woodlawn his home church.
Gene was also a master pressman as a side trade for several years. He was an avid fisherman; he
enjoyed woodworking, studying his Bible, traveling, and spending time with his family.
He leaves 2 daughters: Pamela Casaus and Sonja Deville of Jonesville, LA, and 3 sons: Tommy
Jacks of Vicksburg, Richard Jacks of Jonesville LA, and David Jacks of Hattiesburg MS.
He is survived by his twin sister Joan Jacks Brogdon of Vicksburg MS
He has 12 grandchildren and 13 Great Grandchildren. Visitation will be from 2:30 to 4:00 on Sunday, March 28 at Woodlawn Baptist Church with service following at 4:00
After this service, his interment will be held later at the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery in
Calcasieu LA next to his wife Norma.
Any memorials made in his honor may be submitted to Gideons International.
