The other event that brought him so much joy was attending the weekly Friday luncheons with classmates and friends, which he not only started but was also put in charge of organizing each week.

A dedicated husband, father, and grandfather, George's legacy is carried on by his wife of 37 years, Jade; daughter, Jadie Tom Ledet; grandson, River Reed Ledet; brother, Joe Gain Tom Sr. (Judy); and sister, Lilly Tom Bradley (Richard) and numerous nieces and nephews.   He was preceded in death by his parents, Wing Suey Tom and Sing Hoo Tom, and his sister, Sue Tom Lee.
