Gloria Jean Kappler was born June 23, 1947.  She was 73 years old.  Born in Delhi, LA, she was a longtime resident of Vicksburg.  She was married to retired Vicksburg Police Captain Frank Kappler for 54 years.

Mrs. Kappler went to be with the Lord early in the morning on Friday, December 18, 2020 peacefully in her sleep surrounded by the people she loved.  A husband lost the love of his life, children lost their mother, and grandchildren lost their Nana and a best friend.  She was preceded in death by her father, Eullis H. Johnson, Sr. of Delhi, LA; her mother, Lynette Donhoe of Delhi, LA; and her sister, Virginia Dale Johnson of Vicksburg.

She is survived by her husband, Frank W. Kappler, Sr;  a sister, Mattie Elizabeth Kappler of Vicksburg; a brother, Eullis Haywood Johnson of West Monroe, LA;  three children:  John W. Kappler, Frank W. Kappler, Jr., and Bertha J. "BJ" Kappler- Tate; six grandchildren:  Tabitha (Andrew), Stephanie (Russell), Rebacca , Stephen, Jr. (Tessa), Joshua (Kayla), and Korey; 14 great-grandchildren:  Brooklyn and Jaxon, Kirsten and Shane, Lane, Ellie, and Kyndall, Torstien, Brendon, Brantley, Keaton, Klayton, Matthew, and Makenna; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Services will be at 2 PM, Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home, 5000 Indiana Avenue in Vicksburg with Rev. Marvin Curtis officiating.  Visitation will be from 12 Noon until the hour of service.  Interment will follow in Greenlawn Gardens.  Pallbearers will be John Kappler, Clay Griffin, Billy Adams, Sr., Andrew Grantham, Dane Dixon, Stephen Tate, Sr., Bobby Stewart, and Joe Shows.  Honorary pallbearers will be Ricky Brown, John Johnson, Joseph Stubbs, Larry Holloway, and present and past employees of the Vicksburg Police Department and the Warren County Sheriff Department.
