Grover Walter "Sandy" Sanders, Jr. died Sunday, October 7, 2018 at Merit Health River Region Medical Center.He was 95. He was the son of the late Grover W. Sanders, Sr. and Estella Freeman Sanders.Mr. Sanders was a veteran of World War II, serving in Company B of the 106th Engineer Combat Batallion, 31st Infantry Division of the Mississippi National Guard.He worked for Munford Engineering of Jackson, MS and retired from Filbert Corporation as a refrigeration engineer.Mr. Sanders was a member of the Vicksburg Church of Christ.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Sanders was preceded in death by his wife, Mable Myers Sander; a son, Grover W. "Sandy" Sanders, III; a brother, Joseph "JW" Sanders, and two sisters: Mildred Forsman and Hazel Bounds.

He is survived by two daughters:Jeanette Wilson (Tommy) of Utica MS and Clair Denise Sherman of Vicksburg; two sisters:Alyce Vincent of Southaven, MS and Ila Mae Sharp of Dallas, TX; three grandchildren:George Ward, Robert Wilson and Steven Sanders; and three great-grandchildren.

Service will be 11 am Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at the Vicksburg Church of Christ, 3333 North Frontage Road, Vicksburg, MS with Larry Macomber, Wade Hammack, and Clyde Redmon officiation.Visitation will be 9am until the hour of service.Interment will follow at 2:30 at Lakewood Memorial Park in Jackson, MS with Military Honors.

Pallbearers will be Stan Woodson, Calvin Seyfath, Ken Whittington, Roy Wade, Barry Brown, and Billy Neeley. Honorary pallbearer will be Brooks Boggan.
