January 28, 1953 – May 24, 2025
James "Jimmy" Arnold Campbell went home to be with the Lord on May 24, 2025 at his home in Vicksburg. He was 72. Jimmy was born in Clarksdale, MS to Alvin and Frances Campbell and raised in Cleveland, MS. He was a graduate of Cleveland High School, Class of 1971, and a graduate of Delta State University with degrees in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. He began his career in the production of nuclear energy at the Delta Steam Power Station in Cleveland. He retired from Grand Gulf Nuclear Power Station in Port Gibson, MS after 35 years as their primary software engineer.
Jimmy had a passion for computer science as evident in his career choice. He loved all things dealing with astronomy and the heavens above. Tackled DIY projects with enthusiasm and relaxed doing puzzles. He will be especially remembered for his caring and compassionate heart for dogs and cats. No stray was ever without a home.
He leaves behind Dianne, his beloved wife of 42 years; sister, Cindy Wood of Boyle, MS and brother, Darren Carroll of Cleveland, MS; also sister-in-law, Audie Lawson of Utica, MS and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Frances Campbell.
In remembrance of Jimmy, the family asks that donations may be made to your local animal shelter, Baptist Children's Village, Ridgeland, MS or the charity of your choice.
