Obituary

James Douglas Brown, Sr. "Shine Pot" passed away December 5, 2023 in Vicksburg, MS. He was born in Hamburg, MS September 19, 1944 to the late Prentiss Earl and Susie Mae Brown. He was 79.

He was most commonly known as "Doug" or "Douglas." He worked as a welder at LeTourneau for forty-four years. During his time there, he received many awards and special acknowledgements. His colleagues there affectionately called him "Worm." He was a faithful member of First Pentecostal Church for nineteen years. Douglas loved to collect knives. He always had a pocket knife closeby. He loved to sit around and whittle at pieces of wood.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his beloved wife Cathy. Also preceding him in death are his sisters: Peggy Bryant, Helen Faye Aldridge, and Diane Gidcomb. He is survived by brothers, Jimmy Brown and Robert Earl Brown (Mary Edith); and sister, Sue Sanders. He is survived by his son, Jaime Brown; his grandsons, Jamison Brown (Misty), and Robert Brown (Kristi); and his great grandchildren Jason Brown, Madelyn Brown, Bailey Brown, and Benjamin Brown.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 11, at First Pentecostal Church with Pastor Dathan Tipton officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service. Burial will be at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Hamburg, MS.

Pallbearers will be Jamison Brown, Robert Brown, Wade Brown, Jeff Hamm, Taylor Hamm, and Michael Bourque.
