James R. Mangum, 76, of Nesbit died Friday, December 17, 2021.  He was born in Vicksburg on February 14, 1945.  He was the son of the late Cleo and Wilma Mangum.  He retired from Illinois Central/ Canadian National Railroad after 42 years of service.  He also served in the Mississippi Army National Guard for 12 years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Louise Mangum and Mary Frances Wheat, and a brother, Billy Dean Mangum.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Betty Jane Mangum; two sons, Robert Christopher Mangum of Memphis, TN and Perry Lamar Mangum of Southaven, MS; two grandchildren, Robert Christopher Mangum, Jr. (Lindsey) of Independence, MS and Elizabeth Renee Mangum (Tanner Price) of Horn Lake, MS; four great-grandchildren:  Sadie Mae Florence, Lydia Rose, Emma Kate, and Baylor James Redd; a sister, Lorene Jones of Brandon, MS; a brother, John Wesley Mangum (Lynda) of Choctaw, OK; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 11 AM Thursday, January 6, 2022 at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
