Jerry Don
Johnson
August 2, 1940 – April 2, 2025
Jerry Don Johnson, 84, of Vicksburg, MS, passed away on April 2, 2025 from complications of a stroke. He was born in Lena, MS, on August 2, 1940, to Green B. and Mayola Pigg Johnson, the youngest of nine children.
Jerry graduated from Central High School in Jackson, MS, in 1958. He served in the Army National Guard.
A natural entrepreneur, Jerry built a successful career in business. He first established Jerco, Inc., a real estate and contracting company in Jackson, MS, before pursuing his true passion—creating a place where people could come together and enjoy the outdoors.
Jerry and his wife, Margie, built and grew Chotard Landing into the premier hunting and fishing resort it is today. They fostered a welcoming community for all sportsmen. Jerry's outgoing nature and love of people made him a natural host, and he was known for his generosity, his love of Ole Miss football, and his talent as a country cook. Sharing meals and good times with family and friends was one of his greatest joys.
He was preceded in death by his parents and seven of his siblings. He leaves behind his wife of 31 years, Margie Curtis Johnson; his sister, Charlotte Williams; his son, Mark Johnson (Connie); his daughter, Mechalle Myers (Fred); his grandson, Cody Johnson (Corriane); his granddaughter, McCall Johnson; and one great-grandchild, Navy.
He is also survived by four stepchildren, Jill Goldstein (Chuck), Janet Heard (Kevin), Chuck Marascalco (Pam), and Jeanne Liston (William); thirteen step-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to French Camp Academy at French Camp Academy or a charity of your choice.
Arrangements are being handled by Fisher-Riles Funeral Home of Vicksburg and are pending.
