Jerry Clayton Roberts, a long-time resident of Vicksburg passed away on Friday, December 29, 2023 at Merit Health River Region.
Jerry was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to many. Born on July 31, 1952, in Tacoma, WA, Jerry grew up in Ocean Springs, MS. He lived a fulfilling life and career.
He received a Bachelor of Nuclear Engineering at Mississippi State University. He worked for Entergy in the Nuclear Division spending most of his career at Grand Gulf Nuclear Station in Port Gibson. Before retiring, he also worked at Cooper Nuclear Station in Brownsville, Nebraska, and River Bend Nuclear Generating Station in St. Francisville, LA .
Jerry was an active and beloved member of St. Michael Catholic Church where he joyfully served as a Eucharistic minister. He was also an active member of the Knights of Columbus, Counsel #898/Assembly 558 in Vicksburg including Past Grand Knight.
A kind and loving soul, Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Luther Clayton Roberts and Annie Ruth Stewart Roberts.
He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Crosby Roberts; son, Justin of Ocean Springs; daughter, Kerry of Vicksburg; grandsons, Tyler and Crosby of Vicksburg; and his sister, Dell Mitchell of Madison, AL.
A visitation will be held at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home, 5000 Indiana Avenue on Thursday, January 4 from 5 to 7 PM with Knights of Columbus prayers at 6:45. Funeral service will be held at St. Michael Catholic Church on Friday, January 5, 2024 at 11 AM. Interment will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Stanley Ross, Joe Telarico, Steve Saunders, Tommy Thornton, Paul Donovan and Stephen Riddick.
Honorary pallbearers will be Danny Pace, Dykes Cupstid, Steve Burris, Ron Moomaw, Ben Stewart.
