Johnny Phillips passed away Thursday, January 5, 2023.  He was 66.  Mr. Phillips was born in Vicksburg, he was the son of the late John Lester Phillps, Sr. and Mary Rose Phillips.  He retired from the Vicksburg Fire Department at the rank of  Captain.  He had been a resident of Edwards, MS for the past 16 years. He was a longtime member and former president of the Vicksburg Riding Club.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Pat McDuff Phillips; his children:  Chris Phillips (Bridget) of Texas, Greg Phillips (Kim) of Sevierville, TN, and Johnnie Ann Phillips of Edwards, MS; two sisters, Ruby Nell Gill (Terry) of Arkansas and Betty Ann Phillips of Vicksburg; a brother, Butch Phillips (Jennifer) of Vicksburg; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; his mother-in-law, Lou McDuff of Vicksburg; an aunt, Betty Worthy of Vicksburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be3 PM to 5 PM Sunday, January 8 at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home, 5000 Indiana Avenue.  Service will be at 2 PM Monday, January 9 at the Funeral Home.  Interment will follow in Greenlawn Gardens.  Pallbearers will be Glenn Kittrell, Billy Ray Channell, Dale McDuff, Roy Goode, Austin Phillips, and James Gill. Honorary Pallbearers will be the members of the Vicksburg Fire Department.
