Memorial services will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at 11:00am at Fisher- Riles Funeral Home, 5000 Indiana Avenue in Vicksburg, MS for John D. Ledlow, 75, who died Thursday, February 17, 2022 at Baptist Hospital in Jackson, MS. Visitation for family and friends will be from 10:00 am until time of services. Brother Lewis Kalil will be officiate for the services; honorary officiate is Rev. Oneil A. Landry of Centerville, LA.
John is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Mary Claire Landry Ledlow; 2 daughters, Kathy L. Juve and Valerie L. Fortenberry (Russell); his grandchildren, James Thomas Juve, Chloei Fulghum, Jonah Juve, Macy Fulghum, Julianna Juve, Emme Eaton, Johnathan Juve; 2 great-grandchildren, Weston Weeks and Raynie Weeks; and numerous nieces and nephews.
John was the son of the late Fannie and Robert Ledlow and grandson of the late Della and Ira Griffin of Vicksburg, MS and Lunie and Henry Ledlow of Bentonia, MS. His sisters are Linda L. Jacobs (late Dennis Jacobs) and Betty L. Rushing (Rome). His brothers are Paul Ledlow (Amy), Robert Ledlow (Delcia), and the late Phillip Ledlow. He was brother-in law to Kenneth O. Landry and Daniel N. Landry (Alice) of Rayne, LA.
He was a 1964 graduate of Edmond High school in Edmond, OK. He graduated from Central State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1974. John served his country as Airman First Class with the U.S. Combat Air Forces at Phan Rang Air Base in Vietnam stationed out of Loredo, TX. There he served as a communications equipment repairman and a member of the Air Force Communications Service in support of the Pacific operations. John was a member of Operating Engineer Union #624 and worked over 30 years at Anderson Tully Sawmill as a sawyer.
John loved to meet people and talk about his interests of motorcycles, car and shooting sports. He loved to travel and cooking meals for his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. John was a good man who enjoyed helping others. He regularly volunteered at Top Dollar Pawn Shop. John will be greatly missed.
