Obituary

Joseph Mitchell Pecanty Jr., 65, of Vicksburg, was born in Lafayette, LA on March 15, 1961. He passed away on March 15, 2026, in Vicksburg, Mississippi.

Joseph, affectionately known by family and friends as "Tucker," lived a full life marked
by faith, laughter, and dedication to his family and work. He worked for many years as a Procurement Manager for an oil rig and previously held positions with Ergon Refining and KFC. Throughout his career he built many friendships and was respected for his hard work and commitment.

Joe embraced the simple joys of life. He loved fishing, coon hunting, deer hunting, working in his yard on his tractor, and spending time with his two beloved German Shepherds, Cash and Mocha Jane. His greatest joys were watching his grandson play football and being surrounded by family and friends. Tucker also enjoyed karaoke and dancing and was known for his lively personality, always joking and keeping those around him laughing. He especially enjoyed taking "fishing lessons" from his son Joe, something he often joked about with pride. He was so proud of his family. His motto was No Guts, No Glory.

Above all, Joe loved the Lord. In every card he sent to his children, he reminded them to put God first, a message that reflected the faith that guided his life. He is survived by his loving wife, Glenda Faye Pecanty; daughter, Sophia Denise Ratliff (Kerry); son, Joseph Mitchell Pecanty III (Morgan); his grandchildren: Jacie Alexis Ratliff, Bradley Mitchell Pecanty, Declan Connor Ratliff, Joseph Haidon Pecanty, Lakelan Ross Pecanty, and Fisher Samuel Pecanty; his great-grandson, Dallas Layne Ryals; and his brother, Kenneth Wayne Pecanty (Christy). He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many dear friends who will miss him greatly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Mitchell Pecanty Sr. and Mary Jane Romero Pecanty.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., followed by funeral services at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 20th at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home, 5000 Indiana Avenue in Vicksburg.

In lieu of flowers, his family asks that donations be made in Joe's memory to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.

Joe "Tucker" Pecanty will be remembered for his faith, his humor, and the joy he brought to everyone around him. His love for God, his family, and his friends will leave a legacy in the hearts of all who knew him.
