Garner
August 8, 1941 – January 9, 2026
Laurelle Garner passed away on Friday, January 9 at the age of 84. She was the daughter of Charles David and Mary Ellen Luckett and had been a resident of Vicksburg for most of her adult life, graduating from J.H. Culkin Academy. She was also a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi. She began her teaching career in Port Arthur, TX before moving back to Vicksburg, where she taught at J.H. Culkin academy. After raising her three children, she began teaching Kindergarten at Westminster Presbyterian Church. She was a member of First Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant brother.
Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Russell Hinton Garner, Jr.; her children: Gregory Scott Garner, Russell H. Garner, III (Lorie), and Tiffany Griffin (Wayne), all of Vicksburg and three grandchildren: Hailey Brown (Timothy), Meagan Garner, and Caleb Griffin.
Visitation will be from 12:00 to 1:45 on Monday, January 12 at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home, 5000 Indiana Avenue in Vicksburg. A graveside service will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery at 2:00 pm. Pallbearers will be Wayne Griffin, Timothy Brown, Greg Moseley, Chris Rudd, and Billy Griffin.
Memorials may be made to the Vicksburg-Warren Humane Society.
