Lee Butler Brown was born November 28, 1934 in Belzoni, MS to the late Thomas Calvin Brown and Mary Rireta Ferguson Brown. Lee went to be with his Lord November 4, 2022. He was 88 years old. Lee was the fourth child in his family. Due to serious health problems of two siblings and his mother, at the age of three, he was raised by his Uncle Robert Carson and Aunt Billie Carson.
At age 18, he enlisted in the US Army. He saw overseas service in Korea, Hawaii, Germany and Japan; then he was sent to Vicksburg as the Army Recruiter. State side duty stations included Ft. Chaffee, Arkansas; Ft. Walton, Texas for helicopter training; and Ft. Ord, California. He retired with the rank of Master Sgt. E-8. After retiring from the Army in 1973, he held several jobs before going to work at the US Post Office where he retired with 20 years of service in 1997.
Lee met the love of his life, Juanita Lee, in the 8th grade in Clarksdale, MS. They courted through high school and married April 11, 1955, when he returned from Korea. They were together 67 years; always joking they were still practicing.
Lee was an active member of Wilderness Baptist Church, including his favorite, the Senior Sunday School Class.
Lee held membership in the VFW, Hyland-Marmon Masonic Lodge, York Rite, Scottish Rite and the Eastern Star. He was also Past Master in the Lodge. Lee was a member of the Gold Wing Riders Association for many years.
Lee was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who loved his family and was involved in their lives.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nita; parents; brother, Billy F. Brown and sister, Mary Tom Trealoar.
He is survived by two children, daughter, Dixie Lee McKenzie of Michigan City, MS (Charlie Patton of Collierville, TN); and son, B. Carson Brown (Bridget) of Laurel; five grandchildren, Chad L. Hicks, Kellie Amber Wheeler (Jason), Ashlee Brown, Ethan Brown (Ashley) and Conner Brown (Laura); and seven great grandchildren, Conner Hicks, Austin Morgan, Harrison Wheeler, Haley Wheeler, Paxton Lee Brown, Ann Hartwell Brown and Kashton Butler Brown.
Memorial Services will be held at 1 P.M. on Thursday, November 10 at Wilderness Baptist Church on Gibson Road.
