Louise Pharr
Hall
August 5, 1935 – November 15, 2023
Louise Pharr Hall entered eternal life on Wednesday, November 15, 2023. She lived most of her life in Vicksburg, Mississippi. She was preceded in death by her parents, Nellie Ciopeland Pharr and Sherman C. Pharr; a brother, Sherman C. Pharr Jr; her son Jessie David Hall and the love of her life, Joseph A. (Pete) Hall.
She is survived by two sisters; Peggy Pharr Mackey (Weldon), and Mert Pharr Williams (John), along with two daughters; Fredia Hall Layton (Doug), and Lynn Hall Moorehead (Jim), and several grandchildren, Corey Layton Smith (JT), Trent Layton, David Hall (Christine), Ben Moorehead, Maris Moorehead Risinger ( Brody), and 2 great grandchildren, Makayla Smith and Preston Hall.
Louise was a longtime member of the Bowmar Baptist Church, and taught Vacation Bible School, Sunday School, and sang in the choir. She was a great Girl Scout Leader for Troop 288: from Brownies though Senior Scouts. Working with students was a great joy for her and she retired after working in the Vicksburg Warren School District. Louise had many roles in her life - we believe one of her favorites was participating as a Hostess and a Senior Hostess for the Miss Mississippi Pageant. She loved all of the contestants, and working with her Hostess friends. She served the Miss Mississippi Pageant for more than 30 years!
The Funeral Service will be held in the Fisher-Riles Funeral home (5000 Indiana Ave.) on Monday, Nov. 20th. The family will receive guests at 9:30 am with the service following at 11 am. She will be buried at the Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery (191 Highway 80, Vicksburg).
Pallbearers will be David Blackledge, Nelson Copeland, Greg Duncan, Ted Frisbee, Butch Landers, Randall Mauck, and Scooter Madison.
A very special "THANK YOU" to her incredible and loving caregivers: Stephanie, Jannie, Dorothy, Regina, Cece, Christy, and Haley, along with our very special cousin, Leslie Madison. Mom loved each of you very much. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations in her honor to St. Joseph Hospice (2080 S. Frontage Road #2, Vicksburg, MS 39180) , the Alzheimer's Association (https://act.alz.org) or your favorite charity.
