Obituary

Margaret Sue Oxford was born in Marshall Texas on January 7, 1942 to Emil John Schmidt and Evelyn Margaret Schmidt. She was the older sister to two siblings – Richard Schmidt and Laura Schmidt Wells.
She was raised in Vicksburg, MS, where she acquired her love for music. That passion grew as she was involved in Church and School choirs. She, like her mother had a kind and giving heart and unfaltering faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Sue Schmidt married Fred Oxford at Westminster Presbyterian in Vicksburg, MS on February 26, 1961 and moved to Atlanta GA. In 1962, they returned to Vicksburg and lived here until moving to Grand Prairie Texas in 1967. They raised their daughters in Texas and moved back to Vicksburg in 1996 to take care of Sue's parents.
Sue worked at an Elementary School in Grand Prairie as a librarian for most of her life. She took care of many people and always had a sweet smile on her face. She loved to sing in the Church choir and music was what healed her soul whenever it was hurting. She spent her days doing crafts, working puzzles and listening to music. If she had a penny in her pocket she would try to figure out who needed it more than her and give it to them.
She loved to visit craft shows and Hobby Lobby. Her friend Kathy and she made lots of wreaths and crafts, shop and do for others, cook together, go to painting classes and talk about life.
She had many friends who loved her and was a positive influence on many lives. She was a fun-loving person who was full of life and joy!

Sue is survived by her husband of 59 years, Fred Oxford. They had two daughters - Dena Oxford and Leslie Fox (Ron); Two granddaughters – Kristen Fox and Katie Fox; One sister – Laura Schmidt Wells (Chris); One Brother – Richard Schmidt (Julie). Three Nieces and One Nephew – Melissa Wells Smithhart, Richard Schmidt II, Jennifer Schmidt Dalgo, Amanda Schmidt Romano. And many more members of her large extended family.

Sue loved her family and was an inspiration to them all as well as to many others. Sue touched the hearts of many people including strangers she met on the street. Even up to the day of her death she was a spiritual inspiration to everyone who met her.

She will be deeply missed, but we are joyful she is no longer in pain and that she is now with our Lord. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 27 at Westminster Presbyterian Church.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
