Mary Elizabeth Maggio Edwards died on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at Merit-Health River Region Medical Center.  She was 97.  Born in Vicksburg MS, Mrs. Edwards was the daughter of the late Giuseppe and Rosangela Maggio.  She was a graduate of St. Francis Xavier Academy and was a long standing member of St. Michael Catholic Church.  Mrs. Edwards is survived by her sons, Leo and his wife  Marcia of Virginia Beach, VA; and Vernon of Cloud Croft, New Mexico; two granddaughters; four great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leo; two brothers, Dominic and Frank; and one sister, Bessie.  A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 21 at St. Michael Catholic Church with the  Rev.  P. J.  Curley  officiating.  Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home.  Visitation will be on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the hour of service at the church.  Memorial donations may be made to St. Michael Catholic Church, 100 Saint Michael Place, Vicksburg, MS, 39180.
