Mary Rose Phillips died Sunday, October 18, 2020.  She was 87.  Born in Greenville, MS to the late Louis Montgomery Worthy and Myrtle Beatrice Worthy.  She had been a resident of Vicksburg for most of her adult life.  She was a homemaker and a member of Northside Baptist Church and the Eastern Star, Hyland Chapter Number 56.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Lester Phillips, Sr.; two sisters, Susie Ward and Pat Worthy; two brothers, Louis Reed Worthy, Sr. and Jesse George Worthy; one great grandchild, Peyton Keith Gill.    She is survived by two daughters, Ruby Gill (Terry) and Betty Ann Phillips; two sons,  Johnny Phillips (Pat) and Butch Phillips (Jennifer); a sister, Betty Aliene Worthy; nine grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.

Services will be held at noon Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home, 5000 Indiana Avenue in Vicksburg, MS.  Visitation will be from 10 AM until the hour of service.  Interment will follow in Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Terry Gill, Jr.; James Gill, Austin Phillips, Evan Nevels, Cody Gill, and Jagger Gill. Honorary pallbearers will be Louis Reed Worthy, Jr., Jack Pace, Glenn Worthy, Kelly Worthy, R.H. Pierce, John David Mann and Dr. Olatunji Olutwatade.
