Melbern Malone was born May 28, 1940 to George and Myrtle Malone, he was one of 9 brothers and sisters. Melbern passed away on Monday, June 20, 2022 at his home. He was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years Constance Luevern Malone, parents George & Myrtle Malone, sisters Betty Worley & Evelyn Cofield, brothers Harold Malone, Charles Malone, Aubrey Malone, Jerry Malone and George Malone. He is survived by sister Sheila Olsen & husband John, brother Wayne Malone & wife Sherrie. He is also survived by his 7 children: Melvina Kirk & husband Lee, Jackie Gaines, Tammy Porter, Tracey Shockey, Art Swope & wife Bridgette, Mel Malone & wife Amy, & Teresa Martinez. He has 19 grandchildren & 13 great grandchildren and his loving companion of the last 14 ½ years, his chihuahua Chico.
He enjoyed listening to oldies music and he liked to talk to most anyone. Melbern was a proud tribal member of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians and he was a Master Mason. Throughout his working career he traveled the roads around the country working outages to support his family as a Union Boilermaker of Local 110 out of Hattiesburg, MS.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 22 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home, 5000 Indiana Avenue. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 24 from 10 a.m. until Noon at Evans Funeral Home in Florala, AL with funeral services to follow at Noon. Burial will follow at New Ebenezer Cemetery in Laurel Hills, FL.
