Melvin Ray Stewart was a resident of Vicksburg, MS since 1957.  He was born Dec 5 1949 in Natchez, Ms and lived in Red Lick, MS until moving to Vicksburg.  He attended Jett High School and Warren Central High School.  Melvin was the grandson of Willie Anderson and Clara Ruth Harrell May of Red Lick, MS and Marcus Daniel and Marvin Brown Stewart of Pelzer, SC.

He is predeceased by his wife Carolyn Jo {Jody} Stewart.  Melvin served as a US Marine and a long haul truck driver.

Melvin was the father of two sons;  Michael Troy Stewart {Tammy} and David William Stewart, Sr. {Samatha}; 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.  He leaves behind two sisters {Lynda Stewart and Sandra Clark} and two brothers {Kenneth and Daniel Willie Stewart Sr,}.

Melvin was a member of Wayside Baptist Church.  His memorial was held at Wayside on October 23, 2021.
