Obituary

Michael A. Dorsett was born on June 18, 1951 in Jackson, MS, and raised  by Raymond J. Dorsett and Leslie Lee Dorsett, who preceded him in death.

Mike spent his youth in Durant, MS and has lived in Vicksburg, MS for more than 40 years.  He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Faulba (Fab) Dorsett; one son, Matthew A. Dorsett of Denver, CO; grandsons, Hunter Ray Williams of Carthage, MS; Brady F. Crouch of Vicksburg, Spencer Alan Dorsett of Denver, CO and one great grandson, Hagen River Williams of Carthage, MS.    He was preceded in death by his daughter, Susan Michelle Dorsett; step-son, Ben F. Crouch and brother, Ray Dorsett.

Mike was a 33 Degree Master Mason of the Hyland Jarmon  Lodge, where he served as Worshipful Master and Treasurer.  He was a member of Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, and a member of BPOE#95, where he served as Exalted Ruler, Chaplain and on the Governing Board.

Mike was  a well loved man by many, many people.  He retired from Grand Gulf Nuclear Station and was enjoying retirement.  He was a Tour Guide of the Vicksburg National Military Park to help fill up his days.  Mike was an avid Civil War buff, and would talk to all that would listen about it.  Mike was known for his quick wit, generous and compassionate heart, never met a stranger and loved to talk.

There will be a gathering of family and friends to celebrate his life at BPOE#95 on Saturday, March 27, 2021 beginning at 11 a.m. until.
