Milton Lane Williams of Vicksburg died on February 18, 2019. He was 95 years old. He was born on September 23, 1923, in Tallulah, Louisiana, to Webb Bryant Williams and Sybil Lane Williams.
Mr. Williams was a veteran of World War II, serving in the 1277th Engineer Combat Battalion. He served in England, France and Germany. After the end of the war, he completed his studies in Civil Engineering at Mississippi State University and graduated in 1948. He then began his 30-plus-year career with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Vicksburg District.
Mr. Williams was a faithful supporter of Mississippi State and was a long-time member of the Bulldog Club. He was a member of the Vicksburg Lions Club and received its highest honor, the Melvin Jones Fellow.
He was a member of Crawford Street United Methodist Church. He loved his God, his family and his friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Julia Williams Ursery, his brothers Edward Webb Williams and Warren Andrew Williams, and by his beloved and devoted wife of 70 years, Illma Tadlock Williams.
Mr. Williams is survived by his son Alan Lane Williams (Lilian), his daughter Myra Williams Dean (Jerry), his grandsons Jordan Lane Dean (Amie) and John Milton Dean (Jamie), and a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 22, 2019, at Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service at 2:30 at Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Jerry Dean, John Dean, Jordan Dean, David Boolos, Bobby Fleming, Buddy Lofton, and Jimmy Turner.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Andrew George and the staff of Sharkey Issaquena Nursing Home for their loving and compassionate care over the last 16 months.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Crawford Street United Methodist Church, 900 Crawford Street, Vicksburg, MS 39180.
