Miriam Kather Hendrickson, age 85, passed away Friday morning, June 11, 2021. Beloved mother of Claudia Levy (Gary) and stepmother of Nancy Lukacs, Gwen Zylks, and Barbara Hernandez. Loving grandmother of Sarah Lukacs (David), Kerry Zylks Douglas (Michael), Jeffrey Zylks, Katherine Levy Fortier (Daniel), Rebecca Levy LeBlanc (Samuel), Matthew Levy (Emily), Julia Hernandez, and Francesca Hernandez. Miriam was blessed with ten beautiful great grandchildren with another to be born soon. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Merts Jay (Jay) Hendrickson. She was the daughter of the late Rena Lehmann and Francis Sidney Morgan Kather. Miriam enjoyed a 24 year career in medical records at Ochsner Clinic, working her way up to supervisor of the department. Miriam loved animals, especially dogs. She and Jay enjoyed taking long road trips and often rescued lost dogs along the road. She was an active member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish (Kenner) and received the St. Louis Medallion from the Archdiocese of New Orleans for service to the church and community. She and Jay were active in Marriage Encounter and served as a mentor couple in the Remarriage Program. The family would like to especially thank Dr. James Bragg for his kindness over the years. Burial will be in Vicksburg, MS. On Friday, July 2 at 2 p.m. at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Fisher-Riles Funeral Home.
