Rex Haden King passed away peacefully on April 6, 2026, at the age of 62, at UMMC, in the arms of his beloved wife, Lisa.

He was a proud father, grandfather, and friend who loved his family beyond measure. He found his greatest joy in his sons, and grandchildren, and the time spent surrounded by family and friends. Whether sharing stories, laughter, or quiet moments, Rex made everyone feel valued and loved.

Rex was an accomplished welder at LeTourneau and a welder supervisor at Ergon. In his career, he made many lifelong friends. Rex had a deep love for the outdoors and for working with his hands. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, finding peace and fulfillment in nature. He also had a special talent for building and creating, often making things for his home, his family, and his friends.

He will be remembered for his kindness, his steady presence, and the deep love he showed to everyone in his life. His legacy will live on through the family he adored and the many lives he touched.

Rex Haden King is survived by his beloved wife, Lisa King; his sons, Taylor King and Bradley King; his sister, Lynn King Barron (Fred); his brother, George King; his granddaughter, Amelia King; his grandson, Krewz Thompson; and many extended family members and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Haden King and Helen Wilson King, and brother John King.

Services will be at 1 pm Thursday, April 9, 2026 at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home, 5000 Indiana Avenue.   Visitation will be from 11 am until the hour of service.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bo-D Massey, Howard Lewis, Wes Massey, James Massey, Alec Bordelon, Alex Kibby and John Wyatt Massey.   A special thanks to the doctors and nurses at UMMC ER and second floor ICU. Especially Dr. Jessie Harvey, Dr. Adam Isaac, Dr. Omeed Haji-Amiri, Nurse John Jones, Nurse Morgan Starkweather, Nurse Jack Dowe, and Nurse Devyn Rossi!! Their care for Rex and the family was exceptional!
