Robert Oliver
Henley
December 21, 1949 – January 15, 2025
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Robert "Shot" Henley, who left us on January 15, 2025. Robert was born on December 21, 1949. His remarkable journey through life has left an indelible mark on all who knew him. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.
Professionally, Robert was the owner of Vicksburg Telephone Systems with partnerships in 61 North Mini storages, 61 North Super Lube, Patriot Motor Sports and additional local commercial real estate. Robert was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing and playing golf for many years. Robert spent a large portion of his adult life as a member of the Steel Bayou Hunting Club. He also diligently maintained his private hunting land in Bovina. Robert and his brothers spent many years bonding over hunting; some would say it was his second love.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roble Henley; his brother William M. "Bill" Henley; sister, Jerry Dean Stennett; sister in law, Ruby Hughes, and his mother in law, Dattie Mae Hughes.
Robert is survived by his wife, Dedra; Daughter Rachel (Kevin), niece, Taylor (Levi); Brother Roble "Butch" (Jacque), sisters in laws, Darlene Hughes, Dattie Hughes; Brothers in law, Samuel Hughes and Junie (Dorinda) Hughes; granddaughters, Mary Henley and Ella Laxson and numerous other beloved family members.
He graduated from Warren Central High school in 1967. He was in the U.S. Navy before returning to his hometown Vicksburg. Robert's strength of character, his warm heart, and his unwavering dedication to his friends and family will be remembered by everyone who had the good fortune to cross paths with him. He was a man of great integrity, a source of wisdom and guidance, and a comforting presence. He was a believer in Jesus Christ and attended Living Water Christian Fellowship.
We ask that you keep his spirit alive by remembering him as the kind and thoughtful man that he was. Reflect on the memories you shared with Robert, the lessons he taught, and the countless ways he touched your lives. He will be deeply missed by all, but his legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of those who were fortunate enough to have known him.
The family would like to thank Dr. R. Giffin, Kimberly Fuller ACNP- FNP, Vicksburg Fire and Rescue, Pafford Emergency services, Mississippi Baptist Emergency Departments Physicians and devoted nurses. The Mississippi Baptist inpatient internal medicine partners are also greatly appreciated for their outstanding care.
A memorial service will be held on, Thursday January 23rd, at Fisher- Riles Funeral Home, 5000 Indiana Ave. Vicksburg, MS. with visitation at 10 am followed by the service at 11.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Paws Rescue, P.O. Box 13 Redwood, MS 39156.
