Quimby, Sr.
April 29, 1937 – December 19, 2022
Robert E. Quimby, Sr., 85, of Vicksburg, MS was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, December 19, 2022 after a lengthy illness.
He was a graduate of Brandon High School, Class of 1955, and also attended Mississippi College in Clinton,. He was an active member of Crosspoint Methodist Protestant Church, Treasurer of the Methodist Protestant Conference, Gideons, Kiwanis Club, 32nd degree Mason and The Street Medical Foundation. He was a member of the Last Chance Hunting Club and supporter of Warren Central Viking Football. His hobbies were hunting, bowling and playing golf. He loved his family, church, country and Ole Miss football.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, William Francis and Myrtle Quimby; his siblings, Jim Quimby, Bill Quimby, George Quimby, Eva Norton and Cora Lofton.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Marquida Quimby; his children, Cindy Higgins of Vicksburg, MS, Robert Quimby, Jr. (Angie) of Sanford, Fl., Billy Joe Quimby (Melesa) of Vicksburg, Ms, and Shane Quimby (Brandi) of Vicksburg, MS.; grandchildren, Erin Johnson (Sid), Joey Higgins (Missy), Christopher Higgins (Stacey), Josh Quimby (Grit), Brittany Nevels, Jake Quimby, Olivia Quimby, Joseph Quimby (Hollye), Rob Quimby (Mary Beth), Hayden Quimby (Brittany), Gage Quimby and Mason Quimby; 17 great-grandchildren; one brother, Oscar Quimby of Florence, MS and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to Noon on Thursday, December 22 at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home, 5000 Indiana Avenue. Services will be held at Noon. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Josh Quimby, Joey Higgins, Joseph Quimby, Rob Quimby, Christopher Higgins, Jake Quimby, Hayden Quimby, Gage Quimby and Mason Quimby.
Honorary pallbearers will be his granddaughters, Erin Johnson, Brittany Nevels and Olivia Quimby, Dr. Sam Pierce and staff, Fourth floor Nurses and staff at Merit-Health, Heritage House, Accent Care Home Health, Enhabit Hospice and Dr. Douglas Wolfe and Staff.
Memorials may be made to Crosspoint Methodist Protestant Church.
