Sharon Irene Puckett Hansen, 72, died peacefully in her sleep on August 17, 2024 after a long battle with Parkinson's and dementia. Sharon was a longtime resident of Gonzales, LA and moved to Vicksburg, MS in 2017.
Sharon was born in Highland Park, MI on March 7, 1952 to Dewey and Irene Puckett. She graduated from Hemlock High School in Hemlock, MI in 1970. Soon after her graduation, the family relocated to Midland, MI. Sharon worked for Bechtel Nuclear Plant in Midland where she met her husband, Mark. She held a degree in early childhood education and spent the remainder of her career as a sign language interpreter and retiring in 2015 from Ascension Parish Schools.
Sharon is preceded in death by her husband Mark, parents Dewey and Irene Puckett, mother and father-in-law Amy and Oscar Hansen, sister-in-law Ginger Ott and brother in law Leroy Conlay
She is survived by daughters Julie Landry and husband Dean, Amy Winschel and husband Albert, grandchildren Brent, Cody and wife Victoria, Dara, Nick, Hayden, Ryan, Emily, Donovan and Dixon, great grandchildren Caine, Maizy, and Sofia. Siblings Dewey Meyers and wife Sue, Diane Coons, Nancy Riskovitch, David Puckett and wife Dee, Craig Puckett and wife Molly, Bruce Puckett. Sister in laws Clare Arbogast and husband Jerry, Marsha Hansen and brother in law Jerry Hansen. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews
Sharon was one of a kind and anyone who knew her fell in love with her sense of humor and beautiful spirit. She had the kindest soul and was always willing to help in any way she could. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, wife, sister, aunt and friend. She will be terribly missed by all who knew her.
A celebration of life for Sharon will be held at St. John the Evangelist Church in Prairieville, LA on August 26, 2024 with visitation from 12:00-2:00 and a funeral service will follow at 2:00. Friends and family are invited to attend a reception immediately following the services in the church activity hall.
