Shelby Dean Murray Sr. 75, of Vicksburg MS, passed away on Jan 8, 2023, at his home residence surrounded by family.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 12 from 5pm-8pm at Fisher Riles Funeral Home at 5000 Indiana Avenue, Vicksburg, MS.
Funeral services will be held the next day Friday 13 at 11am with visitation from 10 AM until the hour of service at Fisher Riles Funeral Home on Indiana Avenue with Bro David Allen officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery, formerly known as Green Acres on Highway 27. Arrangements are by Fisher Riles Funeral Home.
Shelby Dean Murray Sr was born in Deridder Louisiana on June 10 1947 to Issac and Nettie Murray of Rayville Louisiana. He attended school in Rayville, LA. Shelby married Peggy the love of his life on July 4, 1971 in Chicago Illinois. Shelby worked as a self-employed Snap-On Tools distributor for 36 years. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War 1 st infantry division serving in the US Army and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal.
Shelby Dean Murray Sr is preceded in death by his son Scott William Murray and brothers Junior Murray, Jim Murray, Charles Murray, Rachel Murray, Betty Rae Murray, Doris Murray, and Jewel Murray
Shelby Dean Murray Sr is survived by his wife Peggy Murray, sons Shelby Dean Murray Jr (Tania Murray) Chris Murray (Kate Murray). Grandchildren Nicholas Scott Murray of Brandon, MS, Isabella Murray of Vicksburg, MS, Adrianna Reynolds of Vicksburg, MS, and Shailoh Murray of Ridgeland, MS.
Pallbearers will be Nicholas Scott Murray, Glenn Cusack, Jr., John Stauts, William J. Zaremba, Jr., William J. Zaremba, Sr., and Chris Moore.
