Obituary

Veronica Nicole Lowery passed away at her home in Vicksburg, Mississippi on August 5, 2021. She was born in Vicksburg on the 12 th of April 2005 to loving parents, Thomas Douglas Lowery and Andrea Janean Taylor-Lowery.

The world is a smaller place without Veronica and all the potential that went with her. She was the first-chair flutist and was well-known as a promising artist. Also, one of her favorite subjects was science and she had an endless curiosity down to cellular biology. Then, there was language. Veronica strove to grow more proficient in other languages. She worked hard at their new home, from beautifying the yard to decorating the house. Veronica was so brave during this pandemic (mask and all), staying by her great-grandmother's (Betty Kober) side with soft, soothing words and kind touch until the end. Such was her determination and affection. Veronica also had a unique gift with animals. So much potential wrapped into a very young lady at the start of her life. We will miss her laugh and beautiful smile. She was a special gift and her loss will always be felt.

Veronica is predeceased by her great-grandmother, Betty Jean Porter-Kober, of Vicksburg, and great-grandfather, H. R. Taylor, Jr., of Sheridan, Arkansas; grandparents, 'Paw' Roy Lee Grady Lowery, Sr. and Ruthelea H Lowery, of Flora, Mississippi.

She is survived by both of her parents, their only child; great-grandfather, Robert Edward Kober, Sr., of Vicksburg, and great-grandmother, Exie Idell Main-Taylor, of Sheridan, Arkansas; grandparents, Jeffrey Robin Taylor and Sandra Lynn Kober-Taylor, of Little Rock, Arkansas; a great-uncle Robert Edward Kober, Jr.; an uncle, Roy Lowery, Jr. (Missy), of Flora, and an aunt, Kristi Lowery-Hilton (Brett), of Vicksburg; two cousins, Christopher Chase Lowery (Heather) and Kaiya Hilton; also a second-cousin, Addison Lowery.

The family wishes to express their genuine appreciation to the many friends and schoolmates, who have reached out with affection and assistance in this time of need and sorrow. A special thanks to family friend Rachel Marks for her stalwart friendship and tender acts of kindness, which have meant the world. Thank you to Vinnie Testa, of Fisher-Riles  Funeral Home, for his sensitivity in handling the arrangement. There are too many friends to name, but please know that your concern and care during this difficult time will not be forgotten.

Forever Young

Adolescent years, like a river's undertow,

which direction to step is difficult to know.

Too young to understand the emotional pain,

her candle blown out by the wind and the rain.

A time of questions and feeling confused,

a young girl's heart, so easily bruised.

She felt all alone, she just didn't know,

others have weathered this troublesome storm.

With a gentle call, her light will appear,

free from the pain, confusion and fear.

This promise is sure, as spoken by the Son,

she is one step away from … forever young.
