Wayne Johnson Roberts, Sr. passed away peacefully at his home on Lee Road,  on Friday, April 9, 2021.  Born in Vicksburg on May 26, 1945, he was the son of Ray Shirley Roberts, Sr. and Eloise Johnson Roberts.  Wayne married Martha Sue Roberts on September 23, 1974 and  they were married until her death on September 13, 2019.

Wayne was retired from the City of Vicksburg, serving  as  Personnel Director for many years. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sue.  Survivors include his son, Wayne Johnson Roberts, Jr. (Aline);  a daughter, Robyn Rae Roberts; his grandchildren, Sara, Gracie, Charlie and Boone; brother, Ray Roberts, Jr. (Jeanette); their children, Rachel Reddit and Krista Roberts; sister, Gena Roberts and her daughter, Lorraine and son, Troy.

A memorial service will be held at Noon on Wednesday, April 14 at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home, 5000 Indiana Avenue with the Rev. Steve Bryant  officiating.   Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Wednesday until the hour of service.

Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Loviza, Travis Wayne Vance, Herman Biedenharn, Woody May, Leslie Newton and Carl Seago.

The family would like to acknowledge the nurses and doctors of KPC Promise Hospital of Vicksburg and Baptist Hospice of Yazoo City, Mississippi for the  outstanding care he received.
