Patrick William Tompkins, III of Vicksburg, MS, died Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at his residence. He was 74. He was the son of the late Patrick and Mary Louise Hennington Tompkins. He graduated from Carr Central High School and served 8 years in the United States Air Force. Mr. Tompkins retired from International Paper Co. with 30 years of service. Mr. Tompkins enjoyed singing, playing the guitar and enjoyed the outdoors and hunting. He was the president of Dillon Ridge Hunting Club. He loved his family and the love of his life was his granddaughter. Mr. Tompkins was a member of Porters Chapel United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Ilse R. Rossmanith Tompkins of Vicksburg; a daughter, Corinna Renee Tompkins Deel (Derek) of Ruston, LA; sons, Patrick Morris Tompkins of Buford, WY; and Martin Richard Tompkins (Denise) of Vicksburg; granddaughter, Danielle Nicole Deel of Ruston, LA; sister, Mary Louise Bolling; brother in law, Erhard Rossmanith (Germany), nephews, King Reagan, Jeff Reagan, Chris Reagan, Ralf Rossmanith. Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. on Friday, May 9, 2014 at Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Brumfield officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 9, 2014 at 10 a.m. until the hour of service. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Peets, Danny Koestler, Joe Aaron, Randy Thorne, Harold Whatley, James Beard, Randy King, Dr. Bill Pierce, Dr. Paul Pierce, IV.
